About the Organization Educators for Quality Alternatives operates alternative schools in New Orleans serving students who have dropped out, been expelled, or otherwise have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional school settings. Our students leave school with the skills, confidence, and experience to succeed in the career and education paths of their choice. EQA currently runs three high schools, The NET: Central City, The NET: Gentilly, and the NET: East, and a middle school program, The Bridge. Position Summary and Responsibilities This position is a unique opportunity to work intensively with a Haitian Creole speaking students. You will join a dedicated and mission aligned team of professionals who believe that every student should have high quality, individualized supports. EQA Schools ELL Tutors are responsible for: Teaching, co-teaching, and tutoring ELL students to insure student access the curriculum and build their English language skills Translate, modify, and adjust assignments, assessments and other documents to insure student success Collaborating with the team to insure all ELL students receive the appropriate supports, accommodations, and modifications Building and leveraging transformative relationships for student growth Constantly developing your own craft Position Requirements: Must be fluent in Haitian Creole Must be comfortable with technology 2+ years teaching ELL students with a demonstrated record raising student achievement A BA or BS required Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building & management skills Learning mindset dedicated to effectively and innovatively problem solving and constantly improving Passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and for being a part of a strong, mission-driven team Commitment to EQA’s mission, vision and growth Details Start Date: ASAP Location: The NET: Central City, 1614 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Schedule: 20 hours per week, most likely in the afternoons Monday - Friday Salary: $30 per hour Reports to: Special Education Coordinator EQA encourages individuals of all identities and backgrounds to apply for this position.
