JOB DETAILS: UW-Stout invites applicants for an Operations Manager position within the Student Centers team. The Student Centers Operations Manager is responsible for leading and directing day to day operational activities of the Memorial Student Center and Merle Price Commons, including direct supervision of the Custodial Services Supervisor and student building manager team, and indirectly supporting other student staff operational teams. The Operations Manager is responsible for facility work orders, supply inventory, equipment inventory and maintenance, scheduling snow removal and major facility and/or custodial projects. The position provides support in budget preparation and capital project development and oversight. In addition, the position works closely with the Conferences and Events team to coordinate support for events and activities throughout the buildings. The position reports to the Associate Director and will also work closely with the Student Centers Director, building mechanics and campus Facilities Management staff. Official UW Title: Event Manager (DS025) Full-time (year-round) position. The position requires flexibility in terms of hours worked, as late evening, weekend and holiday work will be a necessity.Anticipated Start Date: September 2, 2024 QUALIFICATIONS Minimum / Required Experience with custodial services, facility operations, and/or event operations. Experience supervising and training employees. Highly Desired Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and interact positively with a diverse staff and clientele. Experience working in a Student Union or higher education operational environment. Ability to manage a variety of staff and projects simultaneously. Experience developing training and onboarding programs. RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership & Supervision Provides active leadership to the Student Centers Custodial Services team by supervising and guiding the Custodial Services Supervisor and supporting the full-time professional custodians. Guide and support the development of a team of 12-15 student facility operations assistants. Supervise and direct the student building manager team, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating approximately 8-10 student building manager employees. Maintain a constant focus on teambuilding within all operational areas. Provide customer service training and ongoing coaching to all staff in operational areas. Serve as building supervisor for Merle Price Commons. Collaborate with Student Centers leadership team on feedback for facility enhancements, services, and support. Facility Operations Manage key access and door access via campus software systems, and complete an annual key audit. Manage door access schedule in conjunction with the Campus Card Office. Maintain accurate building hour signage at the Memorial Student Center and Price Commons. Attend weekly event set-up meeting to coordinate event set-ups/teardowns, trash needs, etc. Track inventory and condition of furniture and moveable equipment. Submit and manage work orders for facility repairs. Liaison with Facilities Management staff on projects and repairs. Meet regularly and liaison with Student Centers mechanics on projects, repairs, etc. Review and monitor waste hauler tipping schedules. Assist with custodial duties as needed, including cleaning, event set-ups, snow removal, etc. Planning and oversight of capital projects. Safety & Emergency Procedures Oversee building-wide safety and emergency procedures for the Student Centers, and update procedural documentation as needed. Develop and implement building-wide safety and emergency procedure training for student and professional staff. Ensure all custodial staff are trained on custodial safety procedures, including chemicals, appropriate use of equipment, etc. Conduct regular checks of safety equipment, including AEDs, fire extinguishers, etc. Financial Responsibilities Collaborate with Student Centers leadership to develop and submit priorities for Student Centers annual operating and capital budget plans. Purchase supplies and equipment in accordance with state and university purchasing policies. Responsible for approving monthly waste hauler invoices and other vendor contracts. Miscellaneous Serve as a back-up for the student building manager on duty and be available for emergency and on-call situations. Attend and/or facilitate regular staff meetings. Be an active participant on the Student Centers Student Supervisor working group. Serve on university committees as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
