The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of Occupational Therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills while designing the appropriate treatment plan . Implements the treatment plan and monitors patient progress. Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits and educates and facilitates a safe discharge with continued therapy measures. Helps implement continuity of care by participating in discharge planning so patient receives adequate treatment upon discharge. Maintains appropriate documentation that details the patient's response to therapy and the need for skilled intervention as outlined by regulatory bodies. Evaluation of patient based on physician order as well as the evaluation of ongoing and final effectiveness of treatment. Conducts initial assessments and completes within 24 hours after admission. Provides age-appropriate modalities and therapeutics interventions directly to patient as prescribed by physician, and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Provides educational assistance to patients, families, students, other hospital personnel and to the general public . Communicate and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patients, families, clients, coworkers and others Participates in the performance improvement activities of the unit or department. Reads and initials all department memos and meeting minutes. Attends all mandatory Hospital-wide Education seminars. Contributes to the delivery of cost-effective care by utilizing resources appropriately and maintaining equipment in order to prolong working life Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications/Requirements Education Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Required licensures/certificationsMust have a current professional license issued by the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.BLS Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills Experience Knowledge of the principles and applications of Occupational Therapy Modalities and treatments. Capability to evaluate and assess the patients condition. Knowledge of Infection Control, and Body Mechanics Techniques to be applied during patient care. One year experience, recent graduate will be considered.
