Much of this role involves meeting people, getting plugged in to community life, and looking for opportunities for the church to serve. The other aspects of this position are to lead First Dentons global missions efforts and minister to people of Hispanic descent as an excellent bilingual (English/Spanish) communicator who is passionate for reaching the Hispanic community of Denton. Reports to: Executive Pastor Supervises: Missions Coordinator Job Type: Full-time salaried position (Exempt) Functions: Including, but not limited to: 1. Missions: Give oversight and direction to all aspects of Missions work at First Denton Serve as the direct supervisor of the Missions Coordinator Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure missions is a focus of ministries across the church Lead trainings and classes as required 2. Outreach: This aspect of this position requires the candidate to become familiar with the churchs surrounding community, creating a strategy to build goodwill, strong relationships, and ministry opportunities.This includes, but is not limited to, building relationships with: Local City Councils Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Schools, Hospitals, and Care Facilities First Refuge, other Local Non-profit Organizations, neighbor churches, etc. This position is responsible for mobilizing the church to meet significant and felt needs in the community through organizing outreach and service events to build trust with local residents. The question that should be driving the person in this role is: What can First Denton be doing in the community to make people thankful that were here? 3. Hispanic Ministry: Equally important as the Outreach facet of this job is ministering to our Hispanic population. This position is crucial in helping our church become better prepared and equipped to serve our Hispanic community as we work to connect with them so they can grow spiritually, ultimately leading to the launching of First Denton Espaol sometime in 2025.This will include, but is not limited to: Creating Community Events to invite our Hispanic neighbors to First Denton Helping plan and develop the launch of Hispanic Ministry Supervising a team of paid and unpaid staff Serving as the primary communicator for Hispanic Services The Ideal candidate: The ideal person for this role is someone with a specific and unique personality. We need someone who is personable, friendly, charismatic, and warm, but also good at organizing and galvanizing groups of people. He will need to be outgoing, warm, and friendly, adept at connecting on a personal level with folks he has only recently met, and comfortable having crucial gospel conversations in small group settings. Also, he will be equally at home in front of a large group teaching and proclaiming the word of God. Lastly, we need someone who desires to work as part of the larger pastoral staff at First Denton. We see First Denton Espanol as part of our church , not something separate. The ideal candidate will embrace this approach and be able to thrive in a collaborative work environment. Important Job Components: Strategically equip First Denton members with opportunities to serve in the community Develop a discipleship strategy for teaching the importance of evangelism and outreach Lead in planning missions opportunities, locally and globally, working with the Missions Coordinator Evaluate First Denton's current mission partners and ensure alignment and viability Develop a plan to help church members take "next steps" in sharing their faith on a regular basis Evaluate current programs, recommend and implement changes as needed Work to establish relationships with the local Hispanic residents of Denton Develop a plan for first launching Bible Studies, and ultimately a worship service in Spanish at First Denton Participate in the hiring process for building the staff team to lead the Hispanic service Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Fluent in English and Spanish (native Spanish speaking preferred) Agreement with First Dentons statement of faith Meets the biblical qualifications for a minister Bachelors degree required (Seminary preferred) Licensed and ordained into vocational ministry Possesses a passion and aptitude for evangelism and outreach Excellent communicator, both verbal and written Highly Relational and Approachable Team oriented attitude with a can-do spirit Willing to be an active member of First Denton and adhere to membership expectations *Salary will be commensurate with experience, and also includes a generous benefits package plus relocation reimbursement please include a cover letter and references with your application
