About Us: St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School is a newly merged PK-12 institution dedicated to providing a holistic education rooted in Catholic values. Job Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Maker Space Manager to oversee and manage the maker spaces for our Middle School and Upper School students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, engineering, and creativity, and will be committed to fostering a safe, collaborative, and innovative environment for our students. This position will start in August 2024 and is 10-month faculty position. This position will report to the Dean of STEM. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the maker spaces for Middle School and Upper School students. Provide instruction and support to students and faculty in the use of maker space tools and technologies. Maintain and manage maker space equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are in good working order. Collaborate with faculty to integrate maker space activities into various subjects and projects. Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages exploration and innovation. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in maker education and implement new ideas and practices. Organize and lead maker space events, workshops, and extracurricular activities. Working with the Deans of STEM, manage the maker space budget, including purchasing supplies and equipment. Support students during school hours as they work on projects in classes taught by the Makerspace Director. Oversee the makerspace during after-school hours as students work on class projects, robotics competitions, and design challenges. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Technology, or a related field. Experience in a maker space, Fab Lab, or similar environment. Strong knowledge of maker space tools and technologies, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, robotics, and electronics, and a desire to learn more. Experience working with the tools and technology found in the makerspace, including laser cutters, CNC routers, mills, lathes, and various power and hand tools. Ability to support and oversee students working on engineering projects involving automated manufacturing tools (e.g., CNC routers, laser cutters, 3D printers). Enthusiastic and collaborative approach to working with colleagues. Excellent organizational and management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching certification or experience in an educational setting. Experience in curriculum development and integration of maker space activities into various subjects. Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for managing a maker space.
