Position Summary : Under general direction, the Manager of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Solid Waste Transfer Station will lead the professional and administrative management of both facilities. The role involves overseeing the processing of recyclable materials, managing bulk commodities for reuse or sale, and ensuring the safe operation of all sortation systems and processes. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the operation, throughput, and function of an Automated Material Recovery Facility, the balance of the plant and the electrical instrumentation that controls these functions. Normal Shift: Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. some weekends and holidays. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and guidance to staff, focusing on professional growth through coaching and training. Supervise daily operations of the MRF to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of recyclable materials, optimizing revenue and diversion goals. Manage Solid Waste Transfer Station operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, permits, and efficient solid waste disposal. Cultivate positive, professional relationships with stakeholders, including the City and associated recipients of solid waste or recyclable materials. Monitor and report on facility performance, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Develop and execute business strategies for Recycle City, including production schedules, marketing, and sales plans for finished products. Lead preventive maintenance programs, ensuring equipment and systems operate efficiently. Educate the public on recycling programs and proper waste disposal practices. Essential Skills and Expertise: Strong leadership with a focus on team development and operational excellence. Expertise in managing and maintaining complex systems, including advanced processing and conveyor systems. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair logic-controlled systems. Strong understanding of environmental regulations and waste management industry practices. Capable of implementing business, production, and marketing plans that drive the success of recycling operations. Minimum Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker. Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Sales Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field and four (4) years of applicable experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of all functions of transfer station operations, landfill transfer, and recyclable material sortation systems. Considerable knowledge in the field of troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment, material processing systems, and the associated electrical control and logic panels. Considerable knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database computer application programs. Completion of the City Supervisory Course or obtained within one (1) year. Why Join Us?
