JOB DESCRIPTION This individual develops test standards and guidelines regarding the packaging development and qualification process for the organization's products. The MPD Leader works with the organization's central packaging innovation team, internal resources, and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals.RESPONSIBILITIES As the MPD Leader some of your essential duties and responsibilities may include: ***This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship*** * Managing the development and start-up of new packaging components. * Procuring sample components from predetermined suppliers. * Troubleshooting new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials, and processes and provide timely feedback to the packaging innovation team. * Analyzing and evaluating quality and aesthetic form when samples are delivered. Doing the necessary tests for assembly and consequences for production process and transport. Approving the samples or, if necessary, advising improvements. * Establishing standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation, working closely with the quality department. * Evaluating and selecting packaging suppliers/vendors in collaboration with the purchasing department. * Attending supplier quality audits and meetings as necessary. * Understanding supplier processes and working with them to improve quality of existing package components. * Writing, implementing, and managing test protocols to qualify new materials from an existing or new supplier. * Providing cost information on new or existing packaging to Finance. * Identifying and implementing cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage. * Specifying and recommending efficiency tools and test methods to validate packaging designs and pack performance. * Working with the manufacturing department to ensure that packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability/ process ability. * Developing and implementing comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications.QUALIFICATIONS You may fit well into this role if you: ***This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship*** * Have knowledge in packaging technology & materials and a certificate of packaging science. * Have critical problem solving and decision-making skills. * Can work independently and as part of a team. * Have good written and oral communication skills, and can effectively influence and do work across organizational boundaries including with plant personnel, packaging engineering, and suppliers. * Can effectively develop procedures and technical documents. * Can design and execute trial plans and qualifications in a manufacturing environment. * Understand process improvement and quality improvement concepts; ISO 9001 certification (e.g., CQA, CQE, CQIA) is a plus. * Can demonstrate project management skills and experience; project management certification a plus.Please consider applying if you have: * A bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus on packaging, or equivalent work experience. * 5+ years of experience in industrial or consumer packaging or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. * Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.), drafting and specification standards.
