Investigates and resolves matters related to the corporate electronic medical record, including but not limited to, data integrity reviews and updates, patient demographic corrections, encounter/visit maintenance, duplicate patient registration modification, and appropriate documentation retrieval.Job DutiesCoordinates activities related to the integrity of the corporate enterprise electronic medical record through the effective and efficient management of the patient identity integrity data. Meets requirements for accuracy and productivity.Analyzes and problem solves potential patient identity data integrity matters as related to the integration and management of the master patient index and patient data.Performs appropriate corrections and updates within the current and legacy systems based on audits of patient registrations and reviews of patient identity events.Completes duplicate patient registration chart merges and demographic updates through investigating, validating, and resolving patient encounters as it relates to the electronic medical record and electronic enterprise master patient index.Audits completed patient registration merges to ensure system integrity and identify potential issues. Maintains and updates enterprise master patient index and patient identity statistical reports.Generates and analyzes reports and data to identify potential duplicate registrations and other demographic errors for review.Facilitates communication with providers and ancillary departments to correct documentation that cannot be addressed by the EMPI analyst. Communicates with Registration, Scheduling, and other areas as needed to validate discrepancies.Provides process improvement suggestions for continuous education, internal performance improvement, and revenue cycle education through patient demographic review and updates.Incorporates MPI documentation and patient information in to the legal medical record following HIM guidelines for scanning and indexing functions. Assigns identified issues to appropriate work queues. Minimum QualificationsAssociate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Associate's Degree in healthcare related field or High School Diploma/GED with 4 plus years of directly related experience. 2 years experience with HIM and HIM-related applications or currently enrolled in a healthcare related program with an understanding of healthcare data, how it is stored and retrieved and2 years Electronic Medical Record (EMR), information systems, and other related applications experience and2 years of previous healthcare, acute care hospital, or physician practice experience. Strong problem solving abilities, investigative, and analytical skills to analyze the integrity of MPI data. Excellent computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office tools. Comfortable with computer-based work flows, systems, and applications. Good stress management skills and ability to work under pressure within time constraints and within productivity guidelines. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and multitask with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient, customer, and colleague information accessed during the course of normal business. Knowledge of the Joint Commission, Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Federal, and State standards and regulations.
