Boulder Chamber Position Description: Marketing and Communications Intern Revised June 2024 Job Title Marketing and Communications Intern Reports To Senior Marketing and Communications Manager FLSA Hourly Non-exempt Function Work closely with the Marketing Team and other Chamber departments to support their projects and bring them to life. The Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the economic, local, transportation, advocacy, and membership teams to enhance their projects! Responsibilities Content Creation: Assist in the development of engaging content for social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok. This includes brainstorming ideas, creating visual assets, and writing captivating copy. Social Media Management: Help manage and maintain our social media presence by scheduling posts, engaging with followers, monitoring comments/messages, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. Campaign Support: Support the marketing team in the execution of various marketing campaigns across multiple channels. This may involve conducting research, coordinating logistics, and tracking campaign performance metrics. Digital Marketing: Assist with email marketing initiatives, including drafting newsletters, segmenting email lists, sharing drafts for review, and analyzing campaign results to optimize performance. Analytics and Reporting: Compile and analyze data from social media and digital marketing efforts using tools like Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and others. Provide insights and recommendations based on performance metrics to improve future campaigns. Research: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Stay informed about industry trends, consumer behavior, and emerging technologies. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Member Relations, to support integrated marketing efforts and ensure brand consistency across all channels. Education Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Experience Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and content creation. Proficiency in social media platforms and familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, eClincher). Basic understanding of digital marketing concepts and techniques. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Previous internship or relevant experience in marketing or social media a plus. Skills and Abilities Project Management – Manage priorities, processes, contracts, timelines and task deliverables across a variety of overlapping projects. Customer Service – Maintain a high level of engagement, empathy, problem-solving and communication with internal and external constituents to ensure an excellent experience with the Boulder Chamber and promote a collaborative work environment. Organization and Multi-tasking - Be able to organize in a thorough and detail-oriented way to carry out various tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines. Technological Proficiency – Knowledge of, and comfort with, technology including software platforms, website tools, social media tools, and video engagement systems. Public Speaking and Presentation – Excellent written, phone and verbal communication abilities that command audience respect as a content authority. Data Collection and Interpretation – Strong ability to collect, interpret and tell a meaningful story using data. Must be able to interact well with others, and support Boulder Chamber’s and the BTC’s priorities around diversity and inclusivity; bilingual / bicultural applicants encouraged to apply. Working Conditions In-office environment, 15-20 hours per week may require travel to off-site meetings in Boulder, some early mornings, late evenings or weekends to attend events. This is not a summer/temporary role. Typical Physical Demands Operate normal business office equipment. Must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the Boulder area.
