The Marine Service Specialist position is an entry level position into the marine service industry. This is a generalist role that provides exposure to many Marine Trades and many opportunities to learn. Several of our marine painters, sailboat riggers, fiberglass technicians and electricians started in this role. At Safe Harbor Great Island we develop our crew by offering on the job training; professional trade specific training; and advancement opportunities to employees that demonstrate work ethic, commitment, attention to detail and passion for their work. This is a full time year round position and is eligible for our complete benefits package. This position may also be referred to as Yard Hand (Detailer). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Buffing, Waxing, Painting, Polishing and Detailing pleasure boats both in the water and inside our heated storage buildingsAssisting to move boats throughout the facility as a part of a teamAssisting the various Marine Trades department Technicians to complete their tasksOperating a tractor and driving pickup trucks to move materials and supplies throughout the facilityCarrying out duties and responsibilities as assigned including building and facility maintenance projectsAvailability to work overtime to meet seasonal demandsOther duties as assigned by Manager Safety and Environmental Responsibilities Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately Technical & Physical Requirements Previous boat yard experience is welcomed but is not a requirementAbility to ascend and descend a ladderAbility to work in confined spaces, bend, and crouchAbility to lift 50 poundsAbility to wear a respirator Minimum Soft Skill Qualifications Eagerness to engage in a growing, fast paced, and industry-leading companyConsistently treats others with dignity and respectGenuinely serves others with humility and a positive attitudeFrequently demonstrates a bias toward actionAlways communicates effectively and courteously with fellow teammates and membersContinuously follows policies and procedures while seeking out new and better ways of accomplishing dutiesShows resolve and overcomes difficulties in a positive and productive mannerGladly provides responsive, and high level of service to our teammates and membersEagerly puts forth the extra effort to accomplish dutiesAdapts quickly and efficiently to changing priorities in order to meet teammate or member needs The Company Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC (SHM) is the largest owner and operator of marinas in the world.
