We count on our team members to represent Nationwide in the marketplace and have a real desire to connect and help our customers.As a Sales Manager, you'll help develop and execute sales strategies and marketing programs to distribute financial service products through a team of wholesalers and other sales representatives within their sales region. You will have responsibility for overall team performance, lead team sales activities and provide coaching and development to each of your associates. Job Description Key Responsibilities : Develops and grows strategic sales relationships with financial professionals and firms to increase overall sales production in support of business unit sales goals. Evaluates information regarding sales activities, production and overall sales results. Manages all team activities including shared business planning, social selling, opportunity management, critical issues, asset retention and all day-to-day business and technical needs. Addresses and manages crucial, escalated sales inquiries/issues. Captures, documents and communicates processes, while partnering with peers to ensure consistency. Oversees the development and execution of a multi-touch process by reviewing call effectiveness, client communication and technology usage and manages performance. Identifies and develops new market opportunities, campaigns and sales techniques. Recommends product and procedural modifications to facilitate sales. Provides advice and technical information to other areas and partners with them to evaluate and implement modifications to existing processes. Partners and continuously communicates with divisional sales managers to ensure alignment throughout teams. Partners with other sales and service areas to fully understand business goals and needs. Manages correspondence between departments and other leaders, wholesalers, executives, financial professionals, etc. Represents area and/or department on different strategic committees/projects. Provides recommendations and advice to other areas, regarding business feasibility of proposed strategies, tactical plans and/or modifications to existing sales or business practices. Coordinates and monitors sales strategies in support of sales processes. Directs associate management including performance, salary planning and administration, training and development, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions, as needed. Initiates the development, implementation and reporting of sales standards consistent with departmental goals. Provides input to budget development and manages expenses accordingly. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships : Reports to Sales Associate Vice President or Director and manages a team of professionals. Typical Skills and Experiences : Education: Undergraduate studies in business, finance, communications, marketing or related field. Technical insurance coursework preferred. License/Certification/Designation: Associates must acquire the required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position. Experience: Seven years of experience in a sale driven position including managing sales associates required. Experience in sales in a call center environment preferred. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of insurance and financial products and the associated sales processes and channels. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with external sales force. Ability to influence the sale of products through the external sales force.Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and HR Business Partner.
