Job Description Job Summary Manages safety and security programs, procedures, techniques, and equipment related to DC and Central Pharmacy facility employees. Proactively identifies, investigates and reports potential and actual exposure to loss of Company assets. Develops means to minimize risk, ensure compliance to Company policy and provide guidance to DC store/personnel on detecting and preventing loss.Establishes and maintains communication avenues with various internal departments and outside agencies to ensure Asset Protection goals and objectives are met to minimize loss of profits. Performs as Safety Manager in area of responsibility, to lead proactive measures including but not limited to required safety programs, monitor training, incident investigation and corrective action documenting and reporting. Manages proprietary DC Asset Protection Security Officer guard force to ensure training on and adherence to policy and procedures. Implements and conducts training sessions to educate and motivate the Asset Protection Department and other DC Departments to support Asset Protection /Loss Prevention/Safety goals and objectives. Job Responsibilities Conducts investigations on all issues including Loss/theft; Workplace violence; Supply chain: courier/vendor; Workers compensation injuries. Proactively identifies and investigates potential and actual violations of safety standards and develops means to minimize risk, ensure compliance to OSHA regulations and Company policies. Communicates findings of all investigations with appropriate members of management. Prepares comprehensive, timely, and detailed case reports on all inquiries, interviews, and surveys Develops, maintains and applies comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA and the Company policies for auditing standards, as they relate to the rights of employees and non-employees who may be subjects of Asset Protection inquiries. Reports any information, which poses risk to the best interest of the Company/Distribution Center. Performs safety audits in Distribution Center to ensure compliance with internal controls and local/federal laws and regulations. Appears as a witness and gives depositions or direct testimony at criminal trials, unemployment compensation hearings, EEOC hearings, arbitration hearings, and other similar legal proceedings. Communicates and coordinates with the Corporate LP staff to reduce shrink and minimize risk. Maintains regular communications with DC management, DC Human Resources, DC Transportation and other Walgreen Corporate departments to foster cooperative efforts to prevent/ minimize profit loss and/or safety hazards/violations. Communicates and clarifies standard operating policies & procedures to DC Management to ensure compliance with Company/Distribution guidelines as well all OSHA and DEA standards. Maintains communications with DC Asset Protection Director and Distribution Center Management regarding Asset Protection/Security/Safety matters. Actively participates in the daily DC Management production meeting. Responsible for regular review and analysis of shipping and receiving documents, audits, records of delivery, security maintenance reports, and other special management reports to identify actual or potential occurrences of shrinkage. Provides guidance to DC management on the usage of such reports and other asset protection tools to reduce risk of profit loss. Conducts periodic inspections/audits of off- site storage facilities and contracted courier services. Conducts audits/visits of all approved transportation carriers to ensure they are in compliance with Walgreen contractual requirements and DEA regulations. Develops, recommends and implements programs, procedures, techniques, equipment and improvements to ensure the safety of DC personnel while maintaining compliance with OSHA standards. Conducts training sessions including the awareness of Asset Protection programs, safety hazard identification, and injury/illness prevention and safety violations Applies knowledge and understanding of operational areas in the DC, including but not limited to logistics, shipping/receiving, transportation, picking, Rx and return goods, to identify actual or potential occurrences of shrink. Reviews and evaluates Corporate/Distribution exception-based reports, records, and/or systems to identify possible loss of Company assets. Oversees the monitoring of all traffic entering and exiting the Distribution Center to include secured areas to ensure effective protection of the Companies assets and Employees. Directs the review and evaluation of asset protection systems to include Kaba Trailer Access System and electronic article surveillance. Maintains proper operation of fire sprinkler systems, fire and burglar alarms, and security devices to ensure effective protection of employees, company assets and physical properties. Develops and mentors employees through training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace. Assigns Asset Protection Officers to work shifts in accordance with Asset Protection schedules. External Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years of experience as an asset protection officer or equivalent (such as a security officer, guard, etc.) OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience as an asset protection officer or equivalent (such as a security officer, guard, etc.) Knowledge of Distribution Center and Transportation operations. Knowledge of developments in the security industry that relate to role responsibilities/functions of asset protection. Experience providing training and developing process documentation / user manuals for asset protection. At least 2 years of experience operating asset protection systems and facility equipment. Basic experience with spreadsheets, databases and word processing programs (creating documents, entering data, formatting text). Experience working with security systems, such as CCTV, card access, and fire intrusion alarm systems. Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Loss Prevention or related field. Experience leading cross-functional teams. Certification in Wicklander-Zulawski/Reid Certification as granted by John E. Reid Associates/Wicklander/Zulawski & Associates. Certification in LPC as granted by Loss Prevention Foundation. Experience in Drugstore Loss Prevention. Experience with safety compliance and/or program administration. Knowledge of OSHA and other federal/state regulations and requirements.
