Position Description Job Summary The Maintenance Planner's primary objective is the planning of all resources to insure safe and efficient execution of all scheduled maintenance work, thus keeping plant equipment in condition to deliver full design capacity and reliability, optimizing assets profitability for the life of the organization. A major part of this is maintaining an efficient preventive maintenance program. Works closely with all members of the maintenance team in achieving these objectives. This person will be responsible for cataloging the maintenance spares; managing the work order system; managing the tasking entry into the CMMS, and setting the system up to maintain accurate equipment history.Essential Duties-Prioritize and Drive Safety & Environment Work Order Completion with Upmost Urgency-Responsible for daily scheduling of maintenance activities for facility-Identify and prioritize routine maintenance, recommend schedules to maintenance department, publish weekly maintenance schedules and planned work-Establish the preparatory work required prior to scheduled equipment down time.-Clearly define the scope of work to be performed.-Determine and list all the safety procedures associated with the work to be performed.-Develop a detailed job plan with all the work sequences involved to adequately complete the repairs, as well as equipment downtime and man-hours required.-Develop a tool list specific to the job to be performed.-Provide a parts list with reference numbers and exact location for every work order and ensure that all required parts are in stock before job scheduling.-Ensure all technical specifications and special instructions are provided on paper to the Supervisor and tradesmen.-Provide the machinery history information with the job plan.-Determine the cost involved for parts and supplies for each work order.-Order all non-stock parts and materials as required by the job plan.-Inform the Maintenance Supervisor when a job is ready for scheduling.-Establish and maintain with the supervisor and the Storeroom Coordinator, a system for proper kitting of parts for pending work.-Work with the Site Buyer and Storeroom Coordinator to update and maintain the equipment parts catalog, and develop parts catalogs for existing equipment that have none, as well as develop equipment tool list for jobs that require such.Responsible to improve and maintain the equipment files and history (paper and electronic).-Check the validity of the work orders and gather all pertinent information to improve the content and quality of information on work orders.Update, maintain and develop, when required, the equipment parts catalog for every piece of equipment.-Establish and maintain accurate database & library for facility manufacturing equipment.-Review all existing master plans on a regular basis and ensure that they are up to date and contain all pertinent information.-Participate in the budgeting process (approximately $6M annually) and is the prime source of advice in the planning and scheduling of major maintenance activities. Required Qualifications Required Qualifications-Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial preferred) or equivalent field experiencePreferred Skills-2+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair.-2+ years of experience in planning major work and plant shutdowns using computer software 2+ years of experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance Systems. (SAP is preferred).-Knowledge of problem solving techniques (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)-Strong computer skills.
