Maintenance Mechanic (Weekend Shift)

The maintenance mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on various types of production equipment. Dismantling, moving, and installing machinery as required. Compliance with company operating, safety and housekeeping procedures, practices, and policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyzes Equipment Problems: Analyzes mechanical, electrical and operational problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to make sure equipment maintains maximum production and quality standards. Notifies maintenance department manager and operations supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed. Preforms Scheduled Maintenance: Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, performs scheduled maintenance. Assists operations team with change overs, when necessary. Tests Equipment: Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Prove out equipment function after repairs, change overs or extended downtime. Preventative Maintenance: Makes preventative maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action. Analyzes Spoilage/Delays: Examines defects and analyzes spoilage cases and where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report. Instructs Trainees: Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned. Machine Shop Setup and Operation: Reads and interprets blueprints to plan setup and operate lathes, milling machine, grinders, saws and presses. Plans setup and operates typical machine tools, producing parts to close tolerances and company specifications. Additional Duties: Preforms additional duties as assigned by supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical equipment Extensive knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mill machines, and machine shop equipment Fabrication and blueprinting skills for part creation and machine maintenance Electrical and wiring experience desired with an E2 license preferred Experience troubleshooting PLCs and electrical controls Ability to read and write in English, with strong communication skills Experience working late night, past midnight. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work conditions require contact with sharp tools, rotating equipment, oil, and various lubricants. Will involve climbing, crawling, and kneeling in and around machines to preform preventative or production maintenance repair. Must be able to use hand tools and trade type tools. High mental and visual effort required. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds at a time or more. Job involves standing for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work overnight and possibly some overtime, when needed.
