The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex legal matters, providing high-level strategic guidance, and fostering client relationships. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to work independently, exhibit a strong interest in litigation, and contribute to business development efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of life sciences and intellectual property law, particularly focusing on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.Key Responsibilities:Simultaneously handle the strategic and high-level aspects of multiple intellectual property legal matters.Oversee cases at various stages of progression, from inception to conclusion, ensuring timely and accurate legal advice.Provide counsel to clients regarding patent applications, intellectual property litigation, and regulatory matters in the life sciences sector.Conduct research and analysis in areas such as immunology, genetics, molecular biology, and pharmaceuticals.Manage client relationships, ensuring open communication and high-quality legal services.Contribute to business development by assisting in the generation of new clients through group and individual efforts.Produce high-quality legal work, meeting the firm’s billing requirements and ensuring exceptional client services.Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on complex intellectual property matters.Adhere to the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.Requirements:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law and in good standing in New York State.Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).6+ years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm, with a focus on intellectual property in the life sciences sector.Demonstrated experience in managing intellectual property litigation or patent prosecution.Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. or Master's degree in a Life Sciences discipline (e.g., immunology, genetics, molecular biology, or pharmaceuticals).Expertise in life sciences areas such as immunology, genetics, molecular biology, and pharmaceuticals.6+ years of experience in intellectual property law within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.Previous experience clerking for a federal court or administrative agency is a plus.Skills and Competencies:Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage complex cases.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interactions.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while producing high-quality legal work.Business acumen with experience in contributing to business development and client acquisition efforts.Certifications:Licensed attorney in the State of New York.Registered to practice before the USPTO.Job Location: New York City, NY
