Legal Assistant- Litigation

Description:
We are seeking a sharp Legal Assistant/Paralegal for our busy law firm. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a law firm setting preferably in one or more of the following case types: contracts, personal injury, family law, and/or criminal and traffic. If you are organized, detail-oriented, and an excellent multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities:• E-file various Court documents using Odyssey• Update and maintain internal databases• Communicate directly and professionally with clients• Manage attorney calendar(s) and deadlines• Assist with the creation of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, and discovery and proofread documents as needed• Arrange and schedule depositions, meetings, and appointments• New client intakes• Undertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently• Take care of other administrative tasks by answering phone calls and emails, and communicating with opposing counsel offices Qualifications:• College degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred• Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills• Experience with legal software, litigation case management (Smokeball preferred), and docketing programs• Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products• 2 years of prior experience in a law firm environment working as a secretary or assistant• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus Compensation: $40,000+ yearly DOE About Company: Botto Gilbert Lancaster PC is a general practice law firm in McHenry County.
