At St. Jude, you will be part of a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment where you can see, firsthand, how your science translates into survival for the children we serve.This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Researcher to join our Center for Advanced Genome Engineering (CAGE). The CAGE has three missions: 1) facilitate investigator-initiated genome editing projects using CRISPR-Cas9, 2) perform independent R&D to evaluate and develop new genome editing techniques, and 3) to assist the gene and cell therapy programs at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Shondra Pruett-Miller laboratory offers a strong team-based environment where you will work collaboratively with other investigators across the institution to support their research needs and develop and improve genome engineering technologies. As a lead researcher in the lab, you will aid in all steps of custom cell line creation. You will design and clone CRISPR gRNAs need to create genetic variants followed by introducing the reagents into cell lines of interest and screening to find desired clones.Preferred experience: Understanding of and experience with molecular biology techniques Experience in cell culture, transfection, cryostorage, comfortable working with multiple cell lines Independently perform experiments using existing, modified, or newly developed techniques/protocols. Creative and self-motivated Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize work based on need Ability to track and execute multiple projects at once Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with genome engineering a plus Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing analysis is a plus Experience with programming and using liquid handling robots (Tecan) is a plus Responsibilities: Design gRNAs and CRISPR reagents Create custom genome-modified cell lines Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments Set up protocols using new or modified laboratory techniques and troubleshoot experiments independently Aid lab members with data analysis Analyze experimental data and present results at team meetings. Collaborate with other lab members and St. Jude investigators to accomplish broader goals Experience in guiding and training other laboratory personnel preferred Some experience leading lab and scientific project coordination preferred Assist in the drafting and editing of manuscripts, posters, SOPs, and policies Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field and related techniques Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required Two (2) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree No experience is required with a PHD Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Lead Researcher-Center for Advanced Genome Engineering.Explore our exceptional benefits !
