This role involves providing comprehensive counsel to public school districts and other public agencies throughout California, addressing a wide range of labor and employment issues. The ideal candidate has over five years of experience and a strong interest in advocating for educational institutions and public agencies.LocationSan Diego, CADutiesAdvise public agencies on labor and employment matters, including employee hiring, contract drafting, and compliance.Represent clients in cases involving collective bargaining, contract grievances, discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct.Handle cases related to employee discipline, layoffs, and dismissals.Conduct administrative hearings and provide legal support in litigation as needed.Collaborate with clients to develop strategies for complex labor and employment issues.RequirementsMinimum of 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with a focus on public agency or education law preferred.Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsActive membership in the California State Bar, in good standing.SkillsIn-depth understanding of California employment laws as they apply to public agencies.Proficient in legal research, drafting, and litigation support.Effective in managing client relationships and delivering strategic legal counsel.Strong commitment to public agency advocacy and education law.BenefitsComprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.Opportunities for professional growth, including mentorship and training programs.Inclusive and collaborative work environment with a focus on diversity and community engagement.Additional benefits include child-friendly workplace policies and professional development resources.
