NOW HIRING A jig Assistant: The Jig Assistant is responsible for facilitating key steps in the boat building process, particularly preparation for welding. This role involves logical segmenting of tasks to advance work, prioritize worker safety, and enhance overall efficiency. WHY JOIN OUR TEAM? Competitive compensation , starting $15/hr. Full-time position Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. Health plans 401(k) Paid Vacations and Holidays What will I do? Assist in moving boat hulls, keeping the floor clear. Set up new boat hulls in the correct order for production. Assist TIG welders in forming, fitting and positioning large hull pieces. Apply WD-40 and drive rails forward for welding. Safely flip the aluminum boat hulls onto and off of sawhorses, mindful of hot trim tabs. Clean hulls with solvent, following strict safety protocols. Accurately diagram rib placement in hulls, utilizing a tape measure and marker. Cut gunnel rails to length, utilizing a hacksaw. Move parts to the assembly jig, organizing to prevent tripping hazards. Safely pick up and move hulls onto the jig, using a hoist when necessary. Help to install the gunnel rail and trim to fit boat using a Sawzall. Set up parts according to builder specifications. Help set in large parts with a focus on safety. Place loose parts in finished boats for organized inventory. Safely hook up to the hoist using designated attachment points. Remove boats from the jig, ensuring a clear front area. Maintain a continuous workflow to sustain production. Perform various additional tasks to support the builder (e.g., bow eyes, handle bolts, drilling knee brace, obtaining plates and brackets, PVC drain pipes, and wire). Position requirements: Able to lift and move up to 50lbs. Able to accurately read a tape measure. Knowledge of hull welding and boat building processes. Skills in organizing and prioritizing tasks. Ability to follow safety protocols and communicate effectively. Understanding of different boat models and specifications. Collaboration skills for working with builders.
