Position Summary The Systems Administrator plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company's Information Technology functions. The role is primarily responsible, under general to intermittent supervision, for helping ensure the functionality of company software and IT systems. He or she installs software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, resolves issues, maintains data files, monitors system configuration, and performs other similar tasks. Essential Functions Responsible for full support of all systems, including both virtual and physical devices, and Windows 2003/2008, and 1012 Servers. Install software and provide support of applications residing on servers as needed. Implement, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot, and maintain LAN/WAN network communications equipment. Monitor network security access, conducting user access reviews as necessary. Create and maintain policies, practices, and SOX controls related to field of expertise; properly document policies, practices, and controls for future reference, updating information as needed. Provide full tech support with branch openings and relocations. Ensure adequate backup and replication of all systems. Provide storage area network (SAN) support. Provide remote branch VPN network support. Use expertise to support and provide guidance to Helpdesk and PC Specialists; help resolve escalated issues as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or equivalent computer-related degree from a technical school, or similar training, along with a minimum of three years total experience in system administration related role(s). Expert level knowledge of technical equipment and software packages. Fluency with: VMware vSphere and site recovery manager ESET Enterprise endpoint AV management Dell Secureworks service dashboard Qualys Vulnerabiltiy appliance and scanning Active Directory auditing and NTFS permissions for global security groups Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Server, Microsoft SQL MCSE IBM AS/400 Operations Cisco routers and switches CCNA, Cisco UC voice and VOIP, Cisco UCS and Cisco ASA firewalls EMC SAN and storage devices vRanger, Symantec and other backup software Knowledge of IT security best practices, and IT security tools such as Sonic firewalls, ESET anti-virus software, etc. An understanding of COBIT, ISACA, SANS Frameworks Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies and techniques. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Excellent verbal and communication skills required. Passionate about delivering excellence in customer service within a team environment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/technological periodicals, procedures, and journals. Ability to write procedure manuals. Ability to be patient and train less experienced team members; respond to questions, build capability. Supervision General to intermittent supervision, depending on experience Uses sound judgment in executing core job responsibilities, considering downstream impact Travel: 0 - 10% Requirements Physical: Mobility in an office setting. Must be able to carry PCs, monitors, and other computer equipment in the process of installing equipment; may also experience prolonged periods sitting at a desk. May occasionally be required to travel to different office locations within the San Diego area, or outside of the San Diego area for education and training. Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse. Audio/Visual: Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation. Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
