A day in the life of this role: Reporting to the Director of Clinic Support, the Insurance Verification Coordinator is responsible for verifying patient coverage, communicating insurance information to involved departments and ensuring appropriate coverage and benefits for upcoming appointments. Referring Patients to Financial Assistance Coordinator. Summary of duties: Performs insurance verification Review daily schedule and utilize all available resources to determine whether a patient is eligible for coverage Notify patient, ahead of scheduled visit, and resolve any issues with coverage prior to services being rendered Update demographic, insurance information and guarantor billing info. Communicate pertinent coverage information to appropriate staff Receive and follow up on patient inquiries regarding insurance coverage Refers patients to appropriate Financial Assistance Coordinators staff as needed Work closely with the Referrals dept to communicate insurance details that are essential to processing insurance referrals to specialists. Validating insurance coverage of patients and plan allowances for specialists' visits What we need from you: High school diploma required, some college preferred Two plus years of experience in a healthcare setting Use of electronic practice management and electronic medical record software is required Medical terminology preferred. Understanding of revenue cycle & Insurance Payers Position requires exceptional customer service. Self-motivated and self-directed to work within a team and independently. Insurance verification, eligibility and understanding of response histories Outstanding organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in computer skills including outlook, Microsoft office, Epic, OneDrive etc. Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner. Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards. Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and establish priorities in a busy work environment Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
