Institutional Giving ManagerAt Caldera, we believe in the power of creativity. Caldera's Youth Program provides students from Portland and Central Oregon with long-term relationships with caring adults, which nurtures individual creativity, beginning in sixth grade and continuing into young adulthood. Caldera has a $4.9M budget, a 18-member board, 20 full-time year-round employees, and a range of seasonally contracted artists and staff. Its administrative office is in Portland, Oregon, and Caldera Sisters is located on Blue Lake in Central Oregon.Position Title: Institutional Giving ManagerSchedule: Full-Time. Typically 9:00am - 5:00pm (37.5 hrs./wk.) Monday - FridaySupervisor: Director of AdvancementLocation: Portland, Oregon (Hybrid). Some overnight travel to Central Oregon required.Compensation: $61,210 - 78,500 Commensurate with experience. This role encompasses the development of an institutional giving strategy in collaboration with the Director of Advancement, the creation of competitive grant applications, the development and management of their associated processes, and the guidance of grants from proposal to award. The Institutional Giving Manager must possess exceptional skills in researching and identifying funding opportunities, drafting and submitting proposals, and ensuring thorough follow-up and communication with funders.To be effective in this role, the Institutional Giving Manager must collaborate closely with various departments within the organization, as well as with external stakeholders, including grantees, donors, and community partners. This collaboration requires a deep understanding of the needs and perspectives of these stakeholders, ensuring that their input is thoughtfully integrated into the grant-making process. The Institutional Giving Manager must also stay informed about industry trends and best practices to enhance the competitiveness of Caldera's grant applications.Although multiple parties may be involved in the execution and oversight of grants, depending on the source of funds, the Institutional Giving Manager holds primary accountability for the comprehensive management of the entire grants process. This includes developing a comprehensive strategy for reaching foundation and corporate giving goals, overseeing the initial research and identification of funding opportunities, coordinating the drafting and submission of proposals, monitoring compliance with external rules and regulations, and maintaining precise and accurate grant reporting. The Institutional Giving Manager must ensure that all grant activities are conducted with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, contributing to the overall success and sustainability of Caldera's funding efforts.Specific ResponsibilitiesGrant Strategy and Writing - (50%) Research and identify funding needs and opportunities. Create a comprehensive grant and corporate sponsorship strategy to meet budgeted goals, in collaboration with the Director of Advancement Prepare grant proposals and sponsorship requests by conducting research, gathering internal and external data, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals. Ensure deadlines are met by prioritizing and setting target dates for information gathering, drafting, editing, revising, and submitting proposals. Manage corporate sponsorship solicitation and reporting, generate, submit, and track corporate sponsorship applications and reports, update and maintain sponsorship benefits packet, solicit and track in-kind contributions for events Create and update a grants development tracker. Communicate strategy and progress to the Director of Advancement and other departments as necessary. Write and edit executive summaries and organizational and program descriptions. Maintain proposal quality by creating, maintaining, and revising templates and support databases. Perform data entry and record keeping tasks as necessary. Attend departmental or organizational meetings as necessary. Provide general administrative support for the Advancement Department as needed. Attend professional development opportunities and training as necessary.Cultivate Relationships - (30%) Cultivate and steward a portfolio of foundations and corporate sponsors/grantors Research and develop new partnerships and opportunities to connect with the communities in which we workData Management (20%) Administer Raiser's Edge CRM and gift processing system in relation to Foundation and Corporate portfolio Manage the processing of (in relation to foundation and corporate funders): Donor communications such as gift receipts, acknowledgements, and pledge reminders Customized mailing lists, email lists, and reports for department use EFT and credit card donations Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and gift records in relation to foundation and corporate giving Process own monthly reconciliations with accounting manager for grants, sponsorships and corporate matches or in-kind Develop and maintain efficient systems for data cleansing, data entry, gift processing, prospect research, and relationship management in collaboration with the Director of Advancement and Advancement Data SpecialistRacial Equity Work Participate in equity-focused all-staff meetings, retreats, and committees Support Caldera's annual equity plans in their creation and implementation by giving feedback, serving on the Equity Team, and/or participating in activities Other Duties as Apparent or AssignedWork with the Director of Advancement on other projects as assigned Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of demonstrated education and/or experience as an Institutional Giving Manager or in the following: nonprofit fund development, for profit business development, journalism, business communications, etc. Ability to occasionally travel between Portland and Central Oregon Comfortable with a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend activities as necessary Highly experienced with Excel or Google Sheets and CRMs like Raiser's Edge, for reporting and analytics Proficiency with Microsoft software, Google Workspace and other current technologies Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work efficiently and to meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Top-notch editing skills, with concise language capabilities Positive, flexible, active problem-solver Adept at working across communications platforms: face-to-face conversations, telephones, email, virtual meetings, group and individual chats, texts, social media, etc.Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification Previous nonprofit fundraising and/or development experience Previous grant reviewer / evaluator experience Commitment to Caldera's mission to inspire and support youth from underserved rural and urban communities by awakening the potential of their creative voice Experience working with diverse groups, with a high degree of cultural competencyTo Apply: Submit cover letter and resume by 11:59 pm on July 18, 2024Compensation details: 61210-78500 Yearly SalaryPI5288ed1b1dfb-31181-34753991
