Full-time: $18/hr + Benefits Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (applicable to change) Company M Factory USA is an American-made eyeglass company operating in Brooklyn, New York’s Industry City. Each pair of glasses are handcrafted at MFactory’s state-of-the-art facility featuring precision tooling and timeless eyeglass-making traditions to give our frames clean lines and a perfect fit. Description The polishing position requires first cut and final finish polishing of optical glasses manufactured in house. Must remove all file marks and scratches from previous operations and turn out glasses with a uniformed high luster. This job requires having the willingness to learn and take feedback as on-the-job training will be provided. All employees should be aware that from time to time the necessity may arise where they may be asked to assist where needed should priorities change. Responsibilities Hit the companies set goals pre poling: 120 units, final polish 150 - 200 units Cleaning the polishing area and tumbler room Break in new polishing wheels Light sanding IHO - Filing Lock out temple and frame front on filing fixture and file using a smooth cut’ file. File until the frame front and the temple are flush. The surface must be smooth in preparation for polishing. Responsible for 200+ completed pieces daily. CNC Post Processing Smooth out any inconsistencies on the fronts after they have been cut by the CNC and before they are heat bent. Focus on removal of the burs caused from CNC cutting. If not done correctly the plastic will melt into the frame front during the heat bending process causing imperfections. Each front should take no longer than 10 seconds to remove excess material. Maintain good standing with punctuality, attendance, and timesheet responsibilities Back-up duties: Start-up and shut down of air compressor and dust collection system All employees should be aware that from time to time the necessity may arise where they may be asked to assist where needed should priorities change Qualifications Previous polishing not required but a plus. Previous sanding / buffing experience. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Effectively investigate and solve problems. Proactive and independent thinker, able to take initiative and work efficiently with little direction. Work Environment The physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include frequent standing, walking, and using hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
