We have a direct hire opening for a Freight Broker in Reno at a logistics company that has a brokerage department dedicated to helping clients to secure transportation for both TL and LTL shipments.In this role, manage the transportation needs of new and existing customers, use load boards to find reliable freight carriers, negotiate rates to maximize profits, and use a TMS system to track each load's progress from pickup to delivery.**If you're successful in booking freight and generating fees, the total compensation potential annually could be $80k or more**Direct Hire Opportunity - Be on our client's payroll from Day 1!Salary and Shift Information: * Training period salary: $28.85/hour * Regular salary after training: $40k/year plus a commission based on the fees generated by freight bookings * 1st shift: 7 AM-4 PM; Monday-Friday * Benefits: The company offers health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and a 401k retirement plan with a 4% matchJob Duties of the Freight Broker: * Utilize internet load boards and existing carrier contacts to source and secure freight carriers capable of transporting loads efficiently * Negotiate transportation costs with carriers to ensure that our services are both competitive and profitable * Negotiate terms of service with carriers to guarantee that goods are transported under optimal conditions * Set clear expectations for delivery times, handling procedures, and other service related conditions * Utilize a Transportation Management System to monitor each load's progress from pickup to delivery to ensure shipments are on schedule * Ensure that detailed company processes are followed to completion * Engage in discussions with clients about freight lanes, rates, and customized logistics solutions to secure and expand business * Build and manage relationships with freight carriers to ensure a reliable network for future loads Job Requirements of the Freight Broker: * Have experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or a similar environment * Experience with Transportation Management Systems and internet load boards is preferred * They are willing to train for skills in load planning, carrier management, and rate negotiation * Have excellent communication skills for negotiating and discussing rates, services, and terms with both carriers and clients * Use your problem-solving skills to respond quickly to service related issuesAPPLY NOW!
