NDS Summer Meals Program Monitor Job Title: Food Program Monitor We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and being a part of a team. Are you someone who likes to be out and about instead of working in an office setting? If you are someone who has confidence in teaching and guiding others to be successful and you are looking for a rewarding summer employment opportunity, this may be the position for you! Who is NDS? Nutritional Development Services (NDS) is an agency of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia within the Secretariat for Catholic Human Services. For fifty years, NDS' mission has been to serve children and those in need with food and food-related resources. NDS accomplishes its mission in two distinct ways: by administering the federally-funded Child Nutrition programs and through the privately supported Community Food Program. NDS provides meals to community groups such as camps, churches, and other organizations as well as neighborhood volunteers in Philadelphia and surrounding counties. What are the hours? The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday. Your daily schedule will vary from day to day and week to week. Most days include a breakfast and lunch monitoring visit and visits to additional sites for program related tasks throughout the day. Why are monitors so important? Monitors are our eyes and ears, our boots on the ground. They inform the internal office of what is happening at our sites. Our monitors are instrumental to ensuring our site partnerships successful and keeping the program in compliance with the regulations of the Summer Meals Program. Keeping site partnerships in compliance allow the program to continue, which most importantly ensures that children in the community receive nutrition meals all summer long. To be an effective monitor, you will be required to spend enough time at each assigned site to check the meal service operation. Therefore, you will become an expert in program requirements so you can quickly identify problems at the sites and recommend solutions. What we expect from our monitors?
