Your Opportunity as the Engineer, Engineering & Technical Services Organization (TSO) - Packaging - Sweet Baked Snacks ~internally this role will be titled Engineer, Engineering & TSO Location: Remote in Kansas Preferred locations - nearby a Sweet Baked Snacks bakery or Distribution Center (Emporia, KS or Edgerton, KS) Work Arrangements: Travel - typically up to 40% (travel frequency and duration may fluctuate based on projects) Willingness to work off shift hours (nights, weekends, holidays, etc.) and flow to the work in support of project needs Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (i.e. lift, bend, stand, noise) and wear required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Reports To: Senior Manager, Technical Services Organization In this role you will: Be a leader, packaging subject-matter expert, and "voice of packaging" within Sweet Baked Snacks business Assist with Design-to-Value (DtV) productivity related projects in the areas of packaging material savings or process related improvements Technical Resource and ability to communicate with packaging suppliers to align in plant success criteria with vendor performance Design and execute Package Qualifications (CQV) with suppliers, Operations, and contract manufacturers to ensure consistent material quality. Use CQV data to finalize Performance Specification Documents (PSD) that adequately characterize our packaging materials. Manage specification updates resulting from testing and project work as needed Writes and secures approval to test plans required for initiatives and other improvements; executes plans; reports on result Develops and implements engineering designs specific to packaging that will improve efficiencies and quality, increase capacity, and reduce costs Creates and applies technical standards across equipment categories and applies knowledge of packaging to new initiatives and to equipment changes Collaborate with Research & Development (R&D), Marketing, Creative Services, Brand Management, and Suppliers serving as a technical liaison for Bakeries and Operations leadership on package design decisions Builds technical skills for the technology within Engineering & TSO and the broader Operations team The Right Place for You We are bold, kind, strive to do the right thing, we play to win, and we believe in a strong community that thrives together.
