We are seeking a full-time LPN Endoscopy Tech to join our team! This role is responsible for providing care in the ambulatory setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Is a self-starter, compatible, supportive and a team player. Participates in QA programs, in-services and staff meetings. Responsible for working as procedure room assistant, set-up and breakdown of procedure room, reprocessing endoscopes, cleaning of instrumentation, and assisting the Registered Nurse as needed in the pre/post op area. Makes appropriate observations within scope of license and training and records the same; e.g. abdomen soft, knows emergency and safety protocols. Essential Job Responsibilities: Admitting Role (under the direction of a Registered Nurse) Brings the patient back to patient care area to change. Connects patient to monitors, takes and records vital signs Procedure Room Role (under the direction of the Gastroenterologist) Assist the Physician during procedure Participates in "time-out" procedures to ensure that it is correct patient, correct procedure and correct Gastroenterologist before procedure begins. Documents thoroughly, accurately and appropriately each procedure. Assist with biopsy and polyp removal, irrigation and abdominal pressure. Able to set up room, excluding medications, for any procedure. Cleans and disinfects rooms between procedures Collects, labels, and sends specimens Recovery Room Role (under the direction of a Registered Nurse) Able to assist patient, i.e. bathroom, offer nourishment Transports patient out of Center with escort Cleans stretchers and patient bay after each use and sets up for next patient Cleaning Procedures Leak tests scope after every procedure Performs proper pre-cleaning procedure according to protocol. Tests for high level disinfectant for efficacy Knowledge of operation procedure for running the AER and/or manually soaking scopes in high level disinfectant, ability to understand AER data reports for sterlization Demonstrate the proper packaging of instruments for steam sterilization Operate the autoclave and document results Keeps the Decontamination Room clean and clear of excess countertop supplies Care and Maintenance of Equipment & Supplies Keeps an accurate inventory of all supplies and equipment, maintains stock levels in Procedure Rooms, Recovery Rooms, and reprocessing area including lines. Ability to operate, troubleshoot and basic maintenance of all equipment in the Center Keeps accurate maintenance records on all equipment Other duties Assists with trash, linen and biohazard waste collection at the end of the day Assists with the general cleanup of the Center throughout the day Performs additional duties as directed (within scope of license or training). Attends all staff meetings and in-service classes on regularly scheduled days Complies with the various incident-reporting systems of the Center, e.g. Adverse Incident Education/Certifications: Licensed to practice as an LPN in the state of Pennsylvania and current CPR/BLS certification Willingness to travel between endoscopy sites as needed Experience: Minimum of one year of endoscopy, critical care or PACU experience required with a working knowledge of Medical terminology and Infection Control guidelines Previous experience maintaining equipment and ordering supplies Physical Demands: Ambulatory surgery clinical setting . Direct patient contact. Medium duty. 50 pounds, maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Requires standing for long periods while sitting for others. Repetitive hand/arm movements. Required to wear appropriate PPE. Assisting patients on and off procedure tables.
