The EMS Liaison will act as a liaison between the health system and area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers. Serve as a hospital advocate and a representative of the hospital with local, regional, and state EMS agencies and Advisory Councils or Boards. Develop and implement a business plan, driving service line growth, and improving operations in terms of quality and processes. The EMS Coordinator functions as a liaison to clinical practice including safety, infection control, public education, service line committees, and overall EMS Outreach. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring collaboration across all care settings within the Hospital and across the region to include the EMS Resource Hospital network. EMS Coordinator will conduct oversight of providers operating within the System to ensure compliance with the EMS Medical Director's protocols/clinical operating guidelines, standard operating guidelines, and Illinois State Law through: data evaluation, quality management, compliant investigation, supervision of all didactic and clinical education and field experiences, and physician and nurse education as required. Supports the Regional EMS System Director with duties as required. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the orientation program for new providers, including training and documentation of progress and feedback. Develops and monitors implementation of annual EMS system competencies. Research current medical practices for process improvements to increase patient care outcomes. Documents, implements, and trains providers on new clinical practices. Analyzes development and educational needs of new and existing provides. Develops implements, leads, and maintains ongoing educational programs for the EMS System. Reviews prehospital patient care reports, identifies positive and negative trend analysis and provides formal feedback/corrective actions following investigations to maintain System compliance and positively influence future patient outcomes. Conducts scheduled and no-notice inspection of ALS/BLS/First Responder transport and non-transport vehicles to ensure compliance with System Policy and Illinois State Law in conjunction with the Resource Hospital. Ensures radio equipment systems are functional and respondents are Emergency Communication Registered Nurses (ECRN) qualified personnel. Random spot checks and quality assurance checks of all communications. Provide training courses for ECRN's. Provide continuing education units (CEU's) for EMS agencies and hospital staff including but not limited to ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS. Foster a relationship with EMS Schools and ensure a quality educational experience for EMS student clinicals. Assist with Disaster drills and similar tasks for Hospital Emergency Preparedness and EMS readiness. Manages EMS Resupply as required by State Law and coordinate between Hospital departments such as Pharmacy and Central Supply to ensure compliance. Manage partnerships with EMS Educational Schools with scheduling clinical time within the hospital. Assist Regional EMS System Director with Collaboration with regional Healthcare Coalitions and St Louis Area Regional Response System (STARRS) EXPIERENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) 5-10 years of EMS experience (Preferred) 2 years of Supervisor experience (Preferred) SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS: Oral and Written Communication Skills Experience with Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel RN or Paramedic State License within 3 months of hire ACLS, PALS, PHTLS/ITLS instructor within 6 months of hire NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor within 6 mon
