Description:
Responsibilities: Review disciplinary actions and terminations with HR; Provide guidance to the other employment counsel and develop strategy of the employment practice; Provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, assistance and counseling; Assist with employment law litigation matters; Maintain employment law files and databases; Respond to administrative complaints and Department of Labor investigations; Create, customize and update release agreements for terminating employees; Recommend, implement and continuously improve employment law related training; Work with HR to help manage and respond to employee relations issues, investigations and grievances; Manage and supervise outside counsel, as required; Respond to EEOC complaints; Assist in managing responses to subpoenas and document requests. Requirements: Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment; Interact with HR teams and other legal team members Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team as well as cross-functionally across teams; Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise; Minimum of twelve years of experience focused on employment law and litigation, preferably with some experience in-house; Strong analytical capabilities and judgment; Excellent knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (including ADA, ADEA, FMLA, CFRA, FLSA, etc.); Experience overseeing child labor compliance preferred; Outstanding written and oral communication skills; Experience with new-media productions; Experience working directly with management; Experience handling union/guild grievances and arbitrations; Experience managing and completing complex projects; Sense of humor and commitment to professionalism; 5+ years relevant experience.
