Cobb County School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s): Elementary Special Education Teacher-General IRR Start Date: 07/25/2024 Location: Chalker Elementary School Primary Function: Provides instruction for eligible students with disabilities through collaboration with general education teachers and parents/guardians that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities in an appropriate special education program. Requirements: 1. Educational Level: Bachelor's degree required; If you are seeking alternative certification, you must have passed or exempted the GACE Basic Skills Test and the GACE Special Education General Curriculum Content Test 2. Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate 3. Experience: None 4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to lift a student up to a weight of 40 pounds without assistance; ability to perform a 2-person lift for students over 40 pounds 5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; knowledge of areas of disability and special education practices and procedures; specialized instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner; student behavior management The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
