PURPOSE : To provide service and support to people with developmental disabilities in order to help them achieve more meaningful and productive lives in accordance with the values statements of Community Options, Inc. (COI). Provision of service takes place in a variety of locations including COI facilities, supported employment and in the community-at-large. Person Centered Planning (PCP) takes place with all clients and staff participate in the planning and implementation of the PCP. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED preferred. *Valid Colorado driver's license and a driving record acceptable to COI's insurance company. Acceptable criminal background check. Ability to successfully complete Medication Administration Examination and First Aid/CPR within 90 days of hire. Related experience preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The below duties are just a summary of the total duties of a DSP. Provide services and supports to adults with Intellectual & developmental disabilities, such as: Community integration activities, intensive habilitation, residential care, mentorship, medical appointments, transportation, and other activities. Provide assistance with social interaction skills such as communication, leisure activities, treatment toward self and others and may include behavioral supports and service. Function as an assistant to provide services to clients such as training and assistance with social interaction skills: talking, writing, leisure activities, treatment toward self and others; and daily living skills: dressing, bathing, eating, cooking, menu planning, cleaning, etc. Administer medications according to the State of Colorado approved guidelines. Observe clients for signs of illness or changes in health, demeanor and behavior and report as per protocols. Use agency vehicles to transport persons served to and from day programming, community employment, community activities and appointments. Ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment. New hires that are hired after July 1, 2024, are eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus, distributed in two installments. The first $300 will be paid after 90 days of employment upon completion of required training and in-service requirements. The remaining $700 will be paid after 9 months of employment. All payments are subject to federal and state tax deductions. Employees must work full-time for at least one year with no disciplinary actions to retain the bonus.
