Emergent Method is seeking a dynamic graphic designer to support all aspects of creative design, strategy, and production for the firm’s wide range of clients and internal needs. This individual will play an integral role on Emergent Method’s creative services team by collaborating internally with other designers, web developers, and content strategists and externally with clients to understand needs and produce high-quality deliverables. This is a full-time position based in Baton Rouge, La. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in visual and graphic design and is eager to learn from our innovative team of creative professionals; self-motivated and takes proactive ownership over work product; adept in completing deadline-based assignments in a fast-paced environment; and has strong organization skills to manage competing priorities. This individual must be flexible and willing to embrace working as part of a collaborative, detail-oriented team. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Work collaboratively with Emergent Method’s team of consultants, designers, and project managers to understand client needs and propose creative solutions, including developing print and digital deliverables Design original, attractive, and branded collateral and program materials using knowledge of layout, typography, and color Use design principles to create and adhere to brand standards, enhance visual design, and improve quality of deliverables Research and understand a client’s industry, background, and objectives, as well as context, content, and purpose of the deliverable to make thoughtful design decisions accordingly Review and edit documents to ensure layout and formatting is accurate, consistent, and meets brand standards, particularly those in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite programs Learn and remain up to date on design trends, principles, and techniques Support project management, team workflow, and creative process by tracking action items and taking ownership over deliverables and work products Qualifications Requirements for this position include the following: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising, art, visual communication, or a related field Up to three years of experience with a strong portfolio of work that clearly demonstrates expertise in design functions, including, but not limited to, print, social and digital media, and branding Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Experience working in and designing for various content management and distribution platforms, such as WordPress and Mailchimp Enthusiastic about advancing technical and soft skills and learning new design trends, technologies, and techniques Ability to take and give direction, communicate ideas effectively, and tell compelling stories through design and visual communication Exceptional eye for quality and attention to detail Ability to remain organized and meet deadlines while multitasking, juggling competing priorities, and working with multiple team members and clients simultaneously Ability to remain calm under pressure and pivot quickly based on rapidly changing priorities with ease Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as conflict resolution skills Candidates will be required to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding internal practices, as well as client names, projects, etc. Desired qualifications for this position include the following: Experience using video editing software, such as After Effects and Premiere Pro Experience in web design, UI/UX design, and relevant tools, such as Figma Why Emergent Method At Emergent Method, we have a culture you won’t find anywhere else.
