POSITION DESCRIPTION: Curriculum Specialist/Technology Instructor for the Milwaukee Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Plan Trust (JATC) The Curriculum Specialist/Technology Instructor is employed by and reports directly to the Executive Director ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: The sponsoring organizations of the Milwaukee Electrical JATC are the IBEW Local 494 and the Milwaukee Chapter of NECA. Each sponsoring organization appoints three individuals which comprise the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). The JATC selects a Chairman and Secretary from its members GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops Curriculum and lesson plans for various field related training programs for all levels of students in the Sound and Communication program, BICSI program, Residential program Work closely with the Continuing Education Coordinator on courses offered to multiple programs Plans lab activities for related subject matter on a weekly basis and supervises work of students and monitors student behavior Determines instructional methods, develops, administers and grades tests applicable to the trade. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work while also maintaining the BICSI ATF Lab Teach Technology courses for the JATC Assist with the Creation of descriptions and bios for Technologies Courses/Seminars on MeJATC website registration Meet regularly with multiple groups in our industry Work with the Executive Director on career fairs and school visits Perform all other duties as directed by the Executive Director Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of Electrical field experience in the Low Voltage industry. Minimum of 1-year training students in the Low Voltage field installations either in the classroom or in the field. Public speaking to a diverse group of 50 or more. Ability to work with and mentor a diverse group of people. Ability to stay organized and keep to a schedule. Ability to work independently. Varied schedule to meet class demands often requiring day and evening hours Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving. Detail-oriented. Strong ability to multitask. Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record. Experience/Knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) Preferred Qualifications 2 years of formal classroom teaching experience. BICSI RCDD classification Physical Requirements and Work Conditions Physical demands within this position include but are not limited to: frequent standing, sitting, walking, listening, focusing, using depth perception, lifting up to 30+ pounds when needed, use of hands to handle or touch objects. Periods of local travel 20%. Long periods of time spent on the computer- typing, using the telephone, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching above shoulders. **The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
