Position number: K0242993 Location of Employment: 30 th Judicial District, Sumner, KS Position/Salary and Benefits: Court Services Officer I, Grade 36, $28.07 Kansas Judicial Branch Benefits State Employment Center - Benefits (ks.gov) Job duties: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology or a closely related field. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Must submit to a name based criminal background check and have no felony convictions. Must not be registered on a child abuse or adult abuse registry in any state. Must submit to and pass a urinalysis test prior to employment. If employed, the new employee is required to pass a fingerprint-based background check within the first 30 days of employment. POSITION SUMMARY: The Court Services Officer’s duties include but are not limited to the following: Supervision of adult and juvenile offenders placed on probation by the District Court. Communication and interaction with offenders and other relevant parties in the investigation and preparation of reports for the Court. Identifying an offender’s needs and risk to the community and referring offenders to appropriate community resources for assistance. Maintains chronological records of client contacts and of the caseload in general. Prepares reports related to the transfer of supervision, progress and violations of probation. Requires working closely with law enforcement and other community agencies.
