The role of the Coordinator for Student Life/Programming and Leadership is grounded in the collaborative implementation of a vibrant co-curricular experience that animates the mission of St. Mary's University and the Characteristics of a Marianist University. The Coordinator will support and engage in the development of students' educational, spiritual, social, physical and cultural growth as well as facilitate and promote student involvement. Under the guidance and supervision of the Director for Student Life, the Coordinator will develop, promote and implement programming for all students to include supporting student organization programming efforts that will enhance the student social and belonging experience on campus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Advises, supports and guides the University Programming Council (UPC) in their programs. Develops, implements and supports leadership programs (Emerging Leaders, Clifton Strengths, etc.) for the department and campus stakeholders. Provides resources and support to educate students in program design and development. Develops and implements an effective system to assist organization student leaders and advisors with the implementation of quality programs. Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing the Zaragoza (new student orientation) program. Assesses and evaluates programs and services of functional areas. Develops, facilitates and assesses student leadership development programs. Participates in University events such as new student orientation programs, graduation activities, and convocations. Develops and fosters collaborative relationships with faculty, key university departments and students in support of a vibrant and energetic campus community. Maintains an environment that is congruent with the University mission and identity. Assists with effective budget management for specific programs. Maintains web page content for areas of responsibility. Manages the h iring, onboarding and supervising of student workers. Serves on assigned committees, boards or commissions and may be assigned to perform as part of an investigative team. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university required; Master's degree in college student affairs or a directly related area of specialization is preferred or a combination of experience and education may substitute. Two years of programming experience required; Experience working in student organizations or specialized student populations is preferable along with demonstrated administrative ability to plan and execute programs and activities. Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must be able to work nontraditional work hours (weekends and evenings) as needed Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Teams, Zoom, or similar online/virtual meeting platforms. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; an ability to work effectively with communities across the university; ability to maintain effective communication with all staff in Student Development area in order to maintain a welcoming environment and well-informed team approach. Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; displays solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; works well independently and as part of a team. Must have the ability to demonstrate a capacity for leadership, and the commitment to work collaboratively with a diverse and dynamic community. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and parents Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines; Ability to manage, follow-up, work in collaboration and finalize projects, crisis situations and other issue that may arise. Sensitivity to and acceptance of personal and cultural differences and the ability to relate well with persons of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day to day business. While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
