Job Title: MEP Cost Estimator/Manager Location: Sunnyvale, CA Job Description: The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Cost Estimator/Engineer will play a key role in the cost management of a Mission Critical Project for a leading construction and project management company. This project is a large-scale, high-tech semiconductor manufacturing facility located in Sunnyvale, CA. The MEP Cost Estimator/Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of project cost control, including estimating, forecasting, and risk analysis, ensuring that the project stays within budget and contractual guidelines. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, subcontractors, and trade professionals to validate cost proposals, manage change orders, and contribute to project cost forecasting. Responsibilities: Set up and maintain job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, and contingencies. Track costs by bid package, field order, and specific categories of change as defined by the client. Conduct monthly reconciliations of project cost reports. Interpret design and construction documents to quantify materials required for construction and validate subcontractor proposals. Perform quantity take-offs and ensure that costs are fair and reasonable for subcontractor change orders. Work closely with subcontractors and vendors to validate cost proposals and prepare cost authorization packages. Assist in project cost forecasting and develop project estimates. Maintain project indicators, including visual graphics and key performance indicators. Manage and summarize quantities of materials in an organized manner. Collaborate with project teams, including project managers, superintendents, and trade professionals, to ensure alignment with project requirements. Ensure accurate tracking and management of cost-related data for large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects. Basic Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent field work experience. Minimum of two (2) years of construction cost estimating experience, particularly in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing (MEP) projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with project management software (Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6). Familiarity with construction design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction methods and materials. Experience reading and interpreting construction design and technical documents. Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Specific experience in high-tech semiconductor manufacturing or industrial construction projects. Strong familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including trade professionals and subcontractors. Professional experience in both electrical and mechanical cost estimation. Proven ability to manage complex project cost reports and deliver accurate forecasting and cost control. Benefits/Compensation: As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is salary, $85,000-$123,000, based on experience, background, skills and a 50-hour work week.
