Compliance and Privacy Manager Revision Date: 08/23/2021 Department: Tribal Council Employment Status: Full Time Program: Quality/Compliance/Privacy FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Assistant Director - Quality Assurance and Data Analytics Schedule: 40 hours/52 weeks Supervises: Compliance Technician, Privacy Technician Preference: TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638 Job Summary The Compliance and Privacy Manager is responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance and privacy processes, procedures, and controls to meet established regulatory and accreditation standards. This position is responsible for ensuring that mandated internal and external audits are completed in a timely manner and that corrective actions are implemented as a result of sub-par audit results. The Compliance and Privacy Manager will also track and collaborate with the Director of Quality, Compliance, and Privacy to investigate allegations of fraud, abuse, and/or HIPAA violations. Essential Functions Works with the Director of Quality, Compliance & Privacy to ensure all applicable compliance and audit processes are in place and sustained and provides input to staff and QA Team on audit tools and methods for standardization of audits and reporting Ensures that established audits/reviews are conducted on a consistent basis and assists with trending and focused departmental improvement activities based upon audit results Performs compliance audits in those areas currently not self-monitoring and provides education regarding results Serves as a compliance, quality expert and support for staff and QA teams Monitors compliance with applicable standards and regulations Educates staff regarding compliance, privacy regulations and changes in standards Participates in and/or co-chairs committee meetings and updates annual work plan on a quarterly basis Works with departments on the Plan, Do, See, Act (PDSA) process addressing areas where performance is not meeting established standards In collaboration with the Risk Manager, works with staff and leadership on risk assessments and the development and implementation of risk management plans aimed at mitigating risk to the Tribe Communicates obstacles to the Director of Quality, Compliance & Privacy in a timely manner Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Physical Requirements Stand or Sit (Stationary position) Walk (Move, Traverse) Use hands/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position) Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse) Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl (Position self (to), Move) Talk/hear (Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information) See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess) Taste/Smell (Detect, Distinguish, Determine) Pushing or Pulling Repetitive Motion OSHA Categories Category III - Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid Travel Local In-State Out-of-State Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree Experie nce Four (4) years of experience in compliance and privacy in a healthcare setting preferred Managerial experience Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities License/Certification Must have a valid Alaska State Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy Special Skills Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously and under tight schedules Strong oral and written communications skills Strong facilitation skills Experience with standard business documents (e.g. contract language, grants) Knowledge of Medicaid and National healthcare compliance regulations and practices Working knowledge of healthcare compliance Working knowledge of auditing practices in a healthcare field Working knowledge of coding and billing practices in healthcare Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain within 90 days Job Posted by ApplicantPro
