Clinical pharmacists practice under a collaborative practice agreement that allows them to aid in oral oncolytic medication management, including adverse reaction management and laboratory monitoring. The pharmacist team provides care in person and virtually to Billings Clinic main campus and regional partners across Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas. The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services. Work of the graduate pharmacist is conducted under the review and supervision of the registered pharmacist.Essential Job Functions* GENERALSupports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Provides assistance, direction, and clinical supervision of the pharmacy technical staff. (Health Information Management, Patient Chart, Pharmacy Interventions)Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. * Additional Duties for Clinical Pharmacist IIParticipates in the organizational drug utilization review program to include:a) Monitoring drugs, disease states, and clinical pathways and interacts with physicians to optimize drug therapy; writes consults in progress notes.b) Recommends therapeutic alternatives to physicians to increase therapeutic efficiency and reduce cost.c) Develops drug use criteria, clinical pathways, and other tools used to monitor drug therapy.d) Makes presentations to the medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff as required by DUR program.e) Document consults in designated patient chart or medical record. ADD(Patient Care, Pharmacy, Drug Utilization Review)Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, other professionals, patients, and their families. Participates in the educational needs of all customers listed previously. Education, counseling, and in-servicing are a large part of the position duties. (Project Management, Education, Formal Presentations)Assists, guides, and directs pharmacotherapy research activities within the pharmacy department and the facility. (Research, Research Projects, Pharmacotherapy ResearchWith minimal assistance of pharmacy leadership, directs development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services in specialty area (e.g., medication safety initiatives, protocol development, formulary changes, and alternative medications in response to changes, changes in response to new regulations or .) (Project Management, Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy Services)Assists and supports management by providing direction to staff and coordinating the day-to-day operational activities. Responsible for meeting budgetary targets (i.e., revenue maximization and expense reduction goals) by making daily staffing or resource allocation decisions (e.g., approve overtime, flexing staff, formulary over-ride, charging/crediting guidance). Maintaining good fiscal control by balancing all issues impacting revenue, expense, quality and service. Acts as a resource to staff responding to procedural questions and assistance with problem resolution. (Leadership, Day-to-Day Operations, Day to Day Operations AND Resource Management, Department Planning, Assists with Department Budgetary ProcessSchedules staff and coordinates emergency/contingency staffing needs. Shall participate in and provide input/feedback into the interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, coaching/counseling, and/or disciplinary processes for direct-report staff. With assistance from pharmacy leadership, develops and conducts ongoing competency assessment and quality reviews of various technical aspects of the pharmacist or technician's job (e.g., aseptic technique, chart documentation, TCT validation, clinical peer reviews). Identifies areas needing additional education, training, etc. (Education, Staff, Staff Orientation)Identifies and implements quality, service, revenue, and expense process improvement initiatives. CoreInvestigates and responds to issues and/or complaints from staff and/or patients (e.g., customer service and or charging issues). Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality. (Core, not on Halogen job description)Contributes to the effective management of the department by gathering data regarding personnel, supplies, and equipment needs in order to provide input into development of pharmacy policies, procedures, short and long term goals, and objectives for departmental planning and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements applicable to the department. (Leadership, Resource, Resource & Staffing)Minimum Qualifications Education* Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. received from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacyExperience* Prior outpatient pharmacy experience preferred, but accepting new graduate applications as wellCertifications and Licenses* Current Montana Pharmacist license obtained at hire* Healthcare Provider CPR Certification required within 90 days of hire* ACLS Certification within 1 year of hire as deemed appropriate based on job dutiesOr an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
