General Description: The Estimator is responsible for preparing complete, accurate estimates on large and complex projectsas required by client’s documents and provides complete conceptual and total bid price for differentcontract types (i.e. lump sum, time & material, etc.…). Other responsibilities would include creatinginitial construction and critical path schedules utilizing P6; managing proposal preparation and delivery;efficient turnover of assembled product data to project management. GROUP’s principles of integrityand professionalism must be applied during the entire preconstruction process.To be successful in this position the candidate should have knowledge and experience estimatingcivil/buildings construction. Essential Functions: • Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates• Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates• Visits project work sites, clarifies scope of work, and prepares cost estimates and proposals.• Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.• Prepares project bid status report and ensures compliance with all specifications and contract &bid invitations• Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy• Executes take-offs of construction documents• Obtains pricing for material and bids from subcontractors• Evaluates projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings.• Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor,and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items• Makes an estimate where predetermined standards are not available• Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items orcomputer database• Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors,government requirements, etc.• Develops and implements strategies to self-perform and to outsource the various aspects of aproject to achieve the projects objectives of price, schedule and quality.• Participates in weekly staff meetings. Physical Demands: Office Environment – Employee is regularly required to sit; use of hands to grip, handle, or feel; reachwith hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and mustbe able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs.Field/Jobsite Environment – Climbing, crawling, crouching, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposureto loud noises are to be expected on a jobsite environment. Exposure to extreme hot or cold outsidetemperatures is possible. Position Type/Expected Work Hours: This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work are Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Occasional evening/weekend work or travel may be required as job duties demand. Required Education and Experience: • Minimum of 7 years of field experience in Civil projects• Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree preferred; will consider candidates withequivalent knowledge through experience• Accounting / Math Knowledge – ability to perform engineering calculations• Experience estimating self-performed work activities and subcontracted work.• Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry (P6, Heavy Bid, Spectrum). Industry Related Requirements: • Must be able to pass all Safety Council related courses• Must undergo Pre-Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram, fit test ifapplicable)• Must hold a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment and/or vehiclesThe individual who occupies this position must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantialharm to the health or safety of the individual or others that cannot be eliminated or reduced byreasonable accommodation
