Position Title: Building Engineer Location: Stamford Position Summary: The Building Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of all building systems and equipment in a commercial property. This role ensures that the building systems are running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. The Lead Building Engineer will coordinate with vendors and contractors and provide leadership in maintaining a high standard of building performance. Key Responsibilities of the Building Engineer: Building Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to extend the lifespan of building systems and reduce downtime. System Monitoring: Monitor and analyze building system performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions. Compliance: Ensure all building systems are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards. Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair work, ensuring quality and timely completion of projects. Emergency Response: Respond to building emergencies, providing prompt and effective solutions to minimize disruption and ensure tenant safety. Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Minimum Requirements of the Building Engineer: Experience: 3+ years of experience in building maintenance and engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Education: Technical degree in engineering, HVAC, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA, LEED, BOMA) are highly desirable. Skills: Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using building management systems (BMS) and other relevant software. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
