Job Location: 828 Winter Street, Suite 300, Waltham, MA 02451Up to 5% local telecommuting is an option for this position.Email resumes to with Job ID # 196 in the subject lineResponsibilities: Responsible for mammalian expression, purification, and characterization of therapeutic proteins and our protein inventory. Job duties include:1. Perform mammalian cell culturing and cryopreservation;2. Express engineered fusion proteins via transient expression in HEK and CHO cells at multi-scales, ranging from high throughput micro-scale to multi-liter production scale;3. Purify proteins using chromatography tools including preparative FPLC, Tecan Fluent or similar liquid handling instruments;4. Perform a variety of characterizations on protein samples, including SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS, HPLC analytical SEC, protein quantitation, Octet titer analysis of bioprocess samples and endotoxin measurements;5. Work collaboratively with IT and external vendors to automate data workflows and data capture for high throughput expression and purification platforms6. Compile QC reports with data for cross-functional teams and prepare COAs;7. Track sample requests, aliquot, and deliver samples to internal teams and external partners;8. Enter all data into laboratory notebooks and databases and generate weekly summary reports; and9. Regularly participate in and present data and analyses at protein production team meetings and department meetings.Education and Experience Requirements:Employer requires a candidate to have a bachelors degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field, and at least three (3) years of experience in any occupation involving protein expression and purification on a large scale and microscale.Alternatively, the Employer will accept a Masters degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in any occupation involving protein expression and purification on a large scale and microscale.In addition, the Employer requires:1. Demonstrated experience with microscale and using automatic streamflows gained through at least one (1) years of work experience;2. Demonstrated knowledge of microscale transfecting and experience with automatic purification workflows using TECAN/TECAN fluent liquid handler gained through at least two (2) years of work experience;3. Demonstrated knowledge operating FPLC AKTA for automatic purification and writing methods gained through at least two (2) years of work experience;4. Demonstrated experience with protein QC such as analytic SEC, CE-SDS, and endotoxin, working within an endotoxin environment, gained through at least two (2) years of work experience;5. Demonstrated experience with DNA cloning and production gained through at least two (2) years of work experience; and6. Familiarity using LIMS system or a scientific database such as Benchling or ELN, and the ability to automate data workflows and data capture for high throughput expression and purification platforms gained through at least one (1) year of work experience.All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
