As a member of Immunology (IMM) Medical Affairs, the Associate Medical Director, Rheumatology TA will assist in strategic planning and work in cross-functional teams to design and execute design and execute Phase IIIb/IV trials & post-marketing requirements aligned to the J&J portfolio of IMM products. She/he will partner with colleagues from Commercial, R&D, Global Medical Affairs, Real-world Value & Evidence, Biostatistics, and work through integrated evidence teams and other touchpoints to formulate and execute medical & scientific strategy on both marketed products & pipeline assets. She/he will assist in addressing medical questions/issues that arise from the field and experts in the Rheumatology therapeutic area. The Associate Medical Director, Rheumatology TA will assist in advancing Investigator-Initiated & Collaborative studies and lead or contribute to development of related study reports, abstracts, and manuscripts. • Responsible for working with the Senior Director, Strategic Lead, Rheumatology TA, as well as other individuals within IMM Medical Affairs and other functional areas within J&J to facilitate research expanding the knowledge of all J&J marketed products for immune-mediated disease. • Collaborate with external investigators and thought leaders; serve as a liaison between company and clinical investigators and thought leaders, and develop credible relationships with thought leaders, medical directors, and key regulatory officials. • Provide subject matter expertise and function as US medical representative with internal stakeholders across multiple functional areas including marketing and sales, real-world value & evidence, MSLs, and medical information. • Provide US Medical Affairs (MAF) input to R&D, including input into design of R&D clinical trials and presentations and publications. • Help develop and execute Medical Affairs sponsored and supported clinical programs by leading study design, protocol development, execution, and supervision of Phase IIIb/IV trials, registries, real-world evidence, investigator-initiated & collaborative studies in Rheumatology. • Directly supervise and monitor trial conduct as well as work closely with other Medical Affairs medical monitor physicians to assure consistency of conduct across trials. • Work closely with Clinical Scientists, Program Management and Delivery Unit colleagues to manage trial operations and provide program leadership; be prepared to quickly identify trial conduct and logistical problems and provide solutions to rectify the issues. • Write, as well as provide editorial comments, for phase IIIb/IV clinical study reports, abstracts and manuscripts related to J&J Innovative Medicine sponsored & supported studies.• MD/DO; NP/PA/Advanced Nursing; PharmD degree required • Board certification and/or experience in Immunology/Rheumatology strongly preferred • At least 3-5 years of total work experience required • Clinical study, registry, or real-word evidence study experience strongly preferred • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills are required for this high visibility position • Experience interacting with health care professionals and other thought leaders is a strong asset • Experience in clinical trial design and clinical data interpretation is strongly preferred • Experience in scientific investigation into mechanisms of immunological disease would be an asset • Evidence of strong scientific writing skills and analytical thinking is essential • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence is necessary • Experience interacting with global regulatory authorities is also desirable • Approximately 20% travel required Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
