Purpose: The Assistant Athletic Trainer will supervise and assist with all phases of the athletic training program for a NCAA Division II program sponsoring 12 sports at Lincoln University. The Assistant Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries. These duties should be completed in a manner that is consistent with the Core Values of Lincoln University and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). Essential Job Functions: Work under the functional protocols written by directing physician and working with other allied health professionals in the delivery of athletic health care to student-athletes. Filing medical claims with athletic insurance policy and working with insurance company and billing sites on behalf of student-athletes when claims are filed when allowed by HIPPA and FERPA regulations. Following and implementation NCAA Health and Safety Standards. Provide athletic training services to student athletes. Develop, implement, and provide measures to reduce injury for athletes and teams. Provide immediate and ongoing care for injuries to athletes. Work directly on a day-to-day basis with several athletic teams. Travel with at least one athletic team to away contests. Supervise and act as clinical preceptor for athletic training students. Perform athletic training administrative duties including: Written and oral communication with physicians, coaches, student-athletes, administration. Documentation of injury evaluation and care. Maintenance of equipment. Inventory. Ability to travel with teams when needed and work evenings/weekend hours. Maintain BOC, and Missouri license credential. Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer and/or Executive Athletic Administration. Qualifications: A master's degree in athletic training or similar area. Required 0-5 years related to intercollegiate athletics. Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office Suite and Sportware). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification. Required. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Graduate from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program. Required. Certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Required . Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear including the use of a telephone. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance the employee and must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. During game conditions, the noise level is often loud.
