JOB DESCRIPTION Parks & Recreation Aquatics Facility Assistant, SeniorPosting Expires: October 18, 2024Salary: $18.97/hourly General Description and Classification StandardsThe purpose of this job is to perform duties related to the operation and maintenance of a municipal swimming pool and perform other related work as required for the assigned department. This is a team lead or "foreman" level position with a formally designated team of skilled employees, either in one or multiple skilled specialties. Lead assignments made on a job-by-job basis would be more appropriately at the Senior level.Supervision ReceivedWorks under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Enforces preventative safety measures and provides general lifeguard services (i.e. rescuing swimmers in distress, administering CPR and first aid). Organizes, teaches, and supervises groups and individuals in a variety of aquatic programs and activities. Maintains a safe and clean aquatic environment including but not limited to: pool deck, pool water chemistry, locker rooms, showers, and bathroom. Ensures that all equipment and supplies are adequate and in good condition, and makes recommendations for replacement when necessary. Supervises/manages aquatic facility and staff in the absence of Facility Supervisor. May perform facility opening or closing procedures, as needed, including but not limited to securing facility, finalizing reports, and completing inspections.Decision MakingFollows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.Leadership ProvidedProvides guidance and training as required to lower level, interns, temporary employees, etc.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully.
