The VA depends on Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to meet mission goals, and deliver world-class, innovative systems that ensure reliable, secure, and seamless delivery of benefits and services directly to Veterans and their families. The BAM program focuses on developing and managing advanced technology solutions to serve the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Board of Veterans Appeals, and the National Cemetery Administration. 9th Way Insignia Technology has an opening for a Application Software Developer SME to assist in developing Systems Software to sustain and improve the BAM program. Professional Level Information: A Applications Software Developer SME aligns as a Level 4H Technical Lead/Manager within 9th-Way Insignia. A Hybrid Manager at 9th Way Insignia accomplishes department objectives by managing staff and processes and evaluating department activities. Focuses on leading a team and working hands-on with projects involving technology. Hybrid Managers require skills and qualifications such as exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software applications. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define software requirements and specifications. Serve as the go-to expert for specific technologies, frameworks, and development practices. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and evaluate their applicability to our projects. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve software development processes and practices. Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, providing code reviews and technical feedback. Lead technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions within the development team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment. Identify and resolve complex technical issues and challenges. Innovate and propose new solutions to enhance our software products and development processes. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures for production issues. Ensure the highest quality standards in software development through rigorous testing and code reviews. Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts. Implement and enforce coding standards and best practices. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, development processes, and technical solutions. Document technical requirements and specifications clearly and concisely. Requirements Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. (16 years' experience substitute for degree) 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on application development. Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript). Strong experience with modern software development frameworks and technologies (e.g., Spring, .NET, Angular, React). Proven track record of designing and delivering high-quality software applications. Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred/Desired: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer) are a plus. Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $101,188 - $163,5539th Way Insignia's range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Location: Remote 9th Way Insignia reserves the right to adjust work location based upon mission requirements.
