More specifically, your role will include:Contribute to deep learning and AI projects by implementingAI algorithms, appraise new technology, and deliver on milestonesLead and co-develop technical proposals, research activities including design sprints, literature reviews, field research, and prototype building.Use innovative research to influence relevant products and partner teams across Shell, and to have company and societal impactContribute to the portfolio of projects in your team; engage with all internal and external stakeholdersConnect with vendors, universities, and other external entities to bring in new ideas and solutionsAbility to collaborate with multiple engineering, product, and non-technical teams in a cross-functional environmentBuilding constructive and trusting relationships with mostly business stakeholdersDealing with challenges in data acquisition from other parts of the business What we need from you When it comes to developing one of Shell's forward-looking innovation programs, your strategic thinking, and strategic partnership development capability will make all the difference. You should have the capability to develop working relationships where you will connect the internal and external innovators, take up their innovations, and help to shape it into a robust product that is ready to generate commercial value.Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basisMaster's or PhD degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, theoretical science, statistics, or operational research with experience in large-scale parameterization AI and HPC computingCandidates for the position should have three (3) years' work experience in applying latest AI methods to applied use cases using real data. This requires demonstration knowledge of:Strong TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras experienceKnowledge of generative AI algorithms such as chatGPTA mathematical background covering some subset of linear algebra, probability, multivariate calculus, geometry, and numerical methods will be invaluableHands-on code development (Python, Java, MATLAB, R,)Experience using Git to manage models, and source codeExperience in Cloud stacks and architecture, such as Azure, AWS, etc. Comfort with some flavor of Unix shell environment (e.g., bashFor this role we prefer a deep learning specialist with substantial experience working on images, timeseries, video material, optimizationA problem-solving mindset and an enthusiasm for learning new skillsMust have strong technical skills to develop advanced analytics algorithms/models.Awareness of lifecycle and data management is desirableStrong passion for experimentation and extensive experience in solving hard AI problemsExperience in DL, DRL, aand generative AIapplications delivery in a corporate environmentProven examples of implementing experimental pipelines and prototyping AI applicationsDemonstrated people management and stakeholder engagement skillsSolid professional software engineering skillsYou have a track record of value deliveryRegularly following the scientific journals and regularly publishing in scientific journalsThe base salary range for this position is $132,000- $198,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
