CODE ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Non-exempt Position) The beautiful tree-lined City of New Carrollton is a residential community located in suburban Prince George's County, approximately eight miles from Washington, D.C. New Carrollton has a diverse population of over 12,500 residents. The City of New Carrollton is currently looking for an outgoing, highly organized, customer service oriented Administrative Professional to join our Code Enforcement Department. This position will implement administrative systems, procedures and policies within the department. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be proficient with computer-based systems, and be comfortable communicating with residents, property owners and businesses. The Code Enforcement Administrative Assistant will work under the general supervision of the Code Enforcement Manager. Previous experience working for a local government is a plus. Starting salary is $42,550.00; however, pay commensurate with experience. TYPICAL TASKS Responsible for organizing office activities and performing clerical tasks inherent in the Code Enforcement Department including database management/data entry, file management, correspondence, and customer service Act as a liaison between the Code Enforcement Manager and the general public, consultants, contractors, vendors, other government agencies and all City Departments Routinely submit daily reports to Code Enforcement Manager, coordinates and institutes with the Manager all work to be performed by Code Enforcement Officers Respond to public complaints via telephone and office visitors Process applications and permits Compos letters and memorandums Maintain calendar and schedules inspections, orders department's office supplies, opens and distributes all incoming mail, prepares reports and other documents required, and other duties as assigned Create invoices in AccuFund, and forwards copies of applications, citations and payments to the Accounting Department daily Create, prints and mails invoices to the four rental apartment communities annually by July 1st Maintain expenditure records for department KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Ability to work under minimum supervision and make appropriate decisions Ability to work under pressure Ability to work with diverse population and communicate with employees, vendors and residents in a professional and friendly manner Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately Physical Requirements: Ability to operate a variety of office equipment Standing, Bending, Lifting up to 45lbs Language Ability & Interpersonal Communication: Ability to prepare read and follow oral and written instructions Environmental Adaptability: Work is performed in an office environment EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative role Associate's Degree preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Access) Excellent problem solving skills The City of New Carrollton is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
