About the College Adjunct Instructor, Mathematical Sciences, Arts and Sciences Job Overview On a part:time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching Mathematics and/or Statistics courses to a diverse set of students. The Department of Mathematical Sciences is committed to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to improving STEM education through the use of new pedagogical initiatives and cutting:edge technologies, and a research based, active learning approach involving new models of instruction. Essential Functions - On a part:time basis, teach Mathematics and/or Statistics courses at the undergraduate level. Teaching is typically done as part of a team led by a faculty Course Coordinator. - Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities. These activities include participation in meetings and common tasks when part of a coordinated course team. - Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University:related communications. Minimum Requirements Academic degree in an appropriate disciple and prior teaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject. Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. Additional Qualifications Considered - Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics, or a Master's degree in any discipline and at least 18 credit hours of graduate:level coursework in Mathematics or Statistics. - Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material. - Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
